I’ve just recently gotten into watching television shows and it’s definitely been fun. Each month brings new series to enjoy with some series becoming primary highlights of the year. Today, I share my ranking of the television shows I’ve watched this year. Enjoy!
13. The Quest

Just because I have this reality-fantasy series that came on Disney+ in last on my list doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it. In fact, I binge-watched it in two days. I was sucked into the simple storylines and honestly, I hope there’s another season.
12. Tales of the Jedi

I liked the concept of this new animated series from Dave Filoni but it just did not capture me in the way I expected. The fact that its six episodes only highlighted Ahsoka and Count Dooku was the most disappointing thing about the series.
Dooku’s episodes were fascinating, there’s no question about that, but Ahsoka’s episodes felt like it barely added anything to her story that’s already been fleshed out so extensively.
I’m hoping if we get more shorts they can be more creative moving forward.
11. Ms. Marvel

Cute but genuinely geared toward a younger audience, Ms. Marvel is a perfect origin story for Kamala Khan but not easily rewatchable.
10. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law

Marvel Studios definitely got experimental with She-Hulk with its comedic tone, its lighthearted nature, and its surprisingly adult material but it paid off. The show was definitely designed with everyone in mind but it was a fun nine weeks of entertainment with some memorable moments along the way, especially those last two episodes.
9. Murderville

An improvisational comedy starring Will Arnett as a gruff detective with celebrity guest stars like Marshawn Lynch and Kumail Nanjiani trying to help him solve the crimes? From the first trailer, I saw I knew I was going to love it, and sure enough, I did. If you need a good laugh I highly recommend this.
8. His Dark Materials

While this definitely felt like the series’ weakest season it had its moments. And the ending, which I did not see coming, had me in tears.
7. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

The Rings of Power had the task of bringing the epicness of Tolkien’s work to the small screen and for the most part, that was accomplished. However, because it takes so long for anything truly incredible and interesting to happen, the series has a lot of work to be done in terms of its entertainment value.
6. The English

Emily Blunt in a Western? Um, sign me up. I binge-watched this in a day, that’s how much fun I had watching it. Sure, it wasn’t the best series I’d ever seen but there was something so fascinating about seeing Blunt and Chaske Spencer on this incredibly intense, downright romantic adventure. If you haven’t heard about this series check it out. It’s perfect for a binge-watch session.
5. Moon Knight

Marvel Studios got me not only invested in a character I knew next to nothing about but this series was so delightfully strange. Its premiere episode is one of the best I’ve ever seen and its constant twists and turns are just so satisfying. And sure, its conclusion was disappointing but the rest of the show was good enough to warrant this high spot on this list.
4. Obi-Wan Kenobi

Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen came back after seventeen years and they delivered in a big way in this show. The emotional experience that was watching this on a weekly basis is the type of stuff that makes me a lifelong Star Wars fan.
3. Snowdrop

This was a series that didn’t get on many people’s radars but it was a series that I couldn’t stop watching. The end left me as such an emotional wreck that I honestly couldn’t even think about it without crying. This is a hidden gem on Disney+.
2. Andor

I always knew Andor was going to be good but for it to be considered one of the best shows of the year by critics and Star Wars fans alike is something else. And it deserves every ounce of acclaim, for it is truly special.
This series stepped outside of the box, transcending the franchise in a way that hasn’t been attempted for years. This series showed what Star Wars can achieve in terms of storytelling and I just hope Lucasfilm encourages Tony Gilroy to tell more stories set within this universe.
And my favorite series of 2022 is: From Scratch

You may have heard about this show; the limited series starring Zoe Saldana falling in love with a chef. Well, I binge-watched this show on a simple Sunday and by the end of the day, I had cried myself a waterfall. This series is as emotional as it gets, telling a beautiful story delivered impeccably by its incredible cast. I hope this show is recognized next year at the Emmys because it truly is outstanding.
So, those are the shows I’ve seen this year. Let’s see what 2023 brings.
I thank you for reading and I hope you have a spectacular day.
