Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the beginning of Phase 5, is just a week away. The thought is honestly mindboggling. As someone who has still not quite moved on from the greatness of Wakanda Forever, it feels almost startling that we’re on the verge of seeing yet another chapter in this growing franchise.
What makes this film so exciting is its major implications for the franchise moving forward.
- Kang’s introduction as the next big bad. It took ten years for Thanos to become a full-fledged villain. Because Kang has several variants, the way he’s going to be used in the MCU is surely going to be very different. The question, is how powerful will he be portrayed against Ant-Man?
- Ant-Man and Cassie Lang. We finally get that Scott and Cassie team-up that’s been hinted toward since 2015’s Ant-Man. It always seemed destined that they would get to eventually be heroes together. For that moment to arrive with the combined threat of Kang raises the stakes of this mission by a lot.
- More Michelle Pfeiffer. The fact that we’re getting more time in the Quantum Realm is fun because the brief time we got to experience the realm in Ant-Man and the Wasp made it seem interesting. Will we also get to see her use her cool new powers?
- M.O.D.O.K. Yes, M.O.D.O.K is in this movie and the fact that that’s even a thing makes me even more excited to see this zany story.
All in all, with the film being touted as the most Star Wars-y of any MCU movie my interest in this movie is through the roof. Not to mention that this film has two important post-credit scenes attached to it so, there’s that too.
I can’t wait to watch it next week and share my thoughts. Hopefully my review will be overwhelmingly positive.
I thank you for reading and I hope you have a fantastic day.
