Where Does ‘Peter Pan and Wendy’ Rank Amongst the Disney Live-Action Remakes?

Peter Pan and Wendy has recently made its debut on Disney+, and yes, I loved it! I’m not sure how it compares to Disney’s 1953 Peter Pan because I’ve never seen it, but I can say that it was as magical as I’d hoped. And yes, Jude Law’s Captain Hook was perfect. So, I figured I’d share where I’d rank it among Disney’s live-action films. Enjoy!

11. Pinocchio

This movie excited me in the first half, but its final thirty minutes were so unbelievably dreadful that I knew instantly this was the worst of the Disney remakes.

Ranking the Live-Action Disney Remakes: From Worst to Best

Disney has been recreating their classics and making them live-action. Some have bad while others have been surprisingly great, even to the point of, in my opinion, surpassing their animated predecessors. In light of Cruella‘s recent addition to the lise, I wanted to share my ranking of the live-action Disney remakes. Enjoy!

13. Maleficent: Mistress of Evil

When I heard there was going to be a Maleficent sequel I was intrigued to see it. When I finally did I was more than disappointed. Much of the movie I complained about how awful it was and when it eventually concluded I was just tired of it all.

I will, however, be watching this again soon and maybe after a second viewing I’ll have a better appreciation. Maybe…

12. Dumbo

Dumbo made me cry, yes it did, but it ultimately is the most forgettable of the live-action movies. Its story was bland and I’m not a fan of Colin Farrel, hence my low ranking.

11. Mary Poppins Returns

Yes, Mary Poppins Returns isn’t as bad as these other two movies (mainly because of Emily Blunt who is one of my absolute favorite actresses) but thanks to Lin Manuel-Miranda’s awful English accent and the lackluster musical numbers this movie falls flat for me.

My Top 5 Favorite Live-Action Disney Remakes

Walt Disney Studios has thought of something brilliant; remake their animated classics for this generations’ youth. There have been some hits and misses but overall these films are reintroducing these stories to children in bright, colorful, and memorable ways. Today, I’m sharing a lit of the five Disney remakes that have made me really, really happy. Enjoy!

5. Cinderella

I’ve never seen the original film, I just remember reading the stories and finding myself lost in the pictures and the wonder of it all. When I finally watched Cinderella I was impressed by its story, I loved the extra material, and Cate Blanchett was an absolutely despicably perfect evil stepmother. And the costumes, oh my goodness they were gorgeous.

Plus, I thought Lily James was a beautiful and very sweet Cinderella.

My Favorite Disney Songs

One of the reasons why I love animated Disney movies so much are the classic songs that fill you with happiness and cover your arms in goosebumps. Those songs are what make movies like The Little Mermaid and Aladdin so incredibly memorable and enjoyable. Without these glorious songs I don’t think those movies would be quite as magical as they are still to this day. So, since I was thinking about Disney songs today, I’m going to share with you the ballads that make me the happiest and urge me to sing along. Enjoy!

“Under the Sea”

Who doesn’t love “Under the Sea?” I have never seen The Little Mermaid and yet this song is so amazing and fun to sing that I know it almost entirely by heart. Especially the last section of the song. It’s absolutely brilliant and it reminds me every time I hear it why I love Disney so much.

“When You Wish Upon A Star”

This just might be one of the most beautiful Disney songs ever created, for its inspiring lyrics and melodic tone is legitimately lovely. This is definitely one of my favorite Disney songs.

Movie Review Flashback: ‘Aladdin’ Is the Best Disney Movie I’ve Seen in Years

Last year Aladdin arrived in theaters to mixed reviews. While some enjoyed it most felt like it was a bland interpretation of the classic animated film…however, it would still go on to make a little over a billion dollars. A couple of days ago Aladdin became available to watch on Disney+ and because my family and I were interested in the film, mainly to see how Will Smith injected new life into the infamous Genie, we decided to watch it.

At first, the film started a little rapidly and I found myself beginning to understand why the film received mediocre reviews. And then…as the story continued onward and the narrative began to slightly stray from the animated version I started finding myself invested in the film, which clearly grasped me from the beginning with its STUNNING visuals. I mean, gosh these Disney movies are eye-catching.

When Will Smith’s Genie showed up, however, I was pretty much sold. He was so funny, so fantastic, and his rendition of “Friend Like Me” was absolutely perfect. I could not stop smiling…and neither could my family. Continue reading Movie Review Flashback: ‘Aladdin’ Is the Best Disney Movie I’ve Seen in Years
