Throwback Friday: My Experience Watching ‘Avengers: Infinity War’

Oh my goodness everybody, Avengers: Infinity War is no joke! I’ve watched all of the Marvel movies and this is undoubtedly not only the best one but truly the entire culmination of the last eighteen movies. I sat in that movie theater waiting in silent anguish for the movie to start after all of the many trailers and once it did it latched on and didn’t let go literally from beginning to end. The audience was incredible. There were many laugh-out-loud (and silently funny) moments that had the audience in stitches. There were some fantastic character moments that just had the audience cheering with excitement. And then there were some legitimately heartbreaking moments that caused quite a bit of sniffling in the theater. When I walked out of that movie after its two hours and thirty-two-minute long run I was stunned. I felt like a young woman who had just seen the most amazing Marvel superhero movie that she had ever seen and couldn’t believe how shocking the film’s ending was…because that’s exactly what I was. My feet were lead, my eyebrows were furrowed in stunned confusion, and my mind was racing in an utter “WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!”

As I was walking out of that movie theater I saw this super awesome display for Solo: A Star Wars Story and I just had to take a picture with it.

Yeah. It’s just me sitting in the Millennium Falcon cockpit with my Star Wars buddies. 😊

Isn’t that an awesome display?! I’ve seen some cool displays in my time but this one takes the cake. Just imagining myself sitting in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon was an awesome experience. So then after that, I went to find the Infinity War display so I can take a new movie photo and when I did I was so excited.

This is the look of someone who just came out of Avengers: Infinity War. Yeah, it was a ride.

That expression on my face isn’t the look of disappointment. It’s the face of someone who doesn’t know what just happened. I’m telling you, the end of Infinity War is so unexpected and out of this world that usually an audience roars with applause at the end of a really good movie but this audience was mostly silent with the occasional murmur. All of us were legitimately stunned at what had just transpired.

All in all, Avengers: Infinity War will be a movie experience that I will undoubtedly remember for quite a while and it’s given Avengers 4 a very high bar to try to surpass.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a magical day.

Throwback Friday: The Best Birthday Ever!

For the past two years, I have celebrated my birthday by going to watch a movie that I’m really excited about. Last year for my twentieth birthday I went to watch Solo: A Star Wars Story and I had an absolute blast! Two years ago, however, I managed to see Wonder Woman on my super fun birthday and so for this week’s Throwback Friday I’m looking back on that special day. Enjoy!

I love movies! I love superheroes. I’m a fan of DC Comics. And I love Wonder Woman. So what’s the perfect way to celebrate my nineteenth birthday? Going to watch Wonder Woman in IMAX. And it was perfect.

First of all, I am a fan of movie theaters because every single movie theater is different. Some are okay, some are really beautiful, and others are just fun to go to. This happened to be a really nice theater.

This mural is so awesome.

As you can see there is a giant mural showcasing classic films in the lobby of the theater. I happened to immediately recognize Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan from one of my favorite comedies, Rush Hour, as well as Dorothy and her companions in The Wizard of Oz. The mural was so large in fact that I wasn’t able to fit it all in the picture I took. So that was the first surprise of the night.

The Best Birthday Ever!

Secondly, of course, were the Wonder Woman posters in the lobby. There was one that was lit up and simply beautiful.

I really love this poster

And then there was another poster that was so cool I couldn’t resist taking a picture alongside it.

After that, I got the tickets, got a large tub of popcorn and some water, and went into the theater. Now, this was how perfect my birthday was. I went to a 10:45pm showing of Wonder Woman so twenty minutes before the movie came on it looked like this.

A completely empty auditorium

I was so excited. So I sat in the empty auditorium with my family for quite a while just enjoying the experience. After a while, a few people did enter the theater as well but it wasn’t near anything close to a quarter full.

Part of the movie theater experience are the trailers. I love seeing trailers in the movies because they are loud, very awesome, and they determine how good the movie you’re about to watch is. So there were a few trailers that were a little boring. There was a trailer for a new movie coming out called Valerian. It’s based on a novel and I have to say, it looked pretty amazing. The colors, the originality, all of it was mind boggling. Then there was, of course, a trailer for The Mummy which is coming out this Friday. It was fun but I’ve seen it a million times on tv so it wasn’t anything to get excited about. There was a trailer for this movie called Kingsman which looked slightly interesting because it just showed a lot of action but no plots for the story. There was a trailer for Transformers and even though it is going to be a CGI-centric film I don’t even care because those Autobots are so impressive in IMAX. And then…there was a special seven-minute preview of Dunkirk.

Now I am a big fan of Christopher Nolan’s movies. They are very intense, very well written, and just very, very good movies. From Inception to Interstellar he creates movies that make you think about life. He even took a superhero film (Batman if you’re not familiar) and turned it into a fantastic rated R, psychedelic, disturbing, dark film that still has not been touched with its brilliance. Heath Ledger’s Joker is beyond scary, he is terrifyingly believable. And his jokes are not funny. Two-Face was once the pride of Gotham City and became a broken man bent on hate and revenge. And then Batman is not your typical hero. He had issues, he wanted to do what was right but was faced with many difficult choices. To this day there has never been a villain, or villains, as carefully written and thought out for any superhero film as The Dark Knight. It was groundbreaking and still is for a matter of fact. So when I heard Christopher Nolan was making a war film I was beyond excited. I’ve seen the commercials but in the movies, let me just say this, you will come away from that movie shaken to the core. I was literally shaking as I watched it. And at one point it got so loud and horribly real I was leaning back in my seat in horrified anticipation. Dunkirk is clearly the film of the summer and, if Hollywood is sensible, will be nominated for Best Picture. It’s that good.

After the trailers finished the IMAX started to count down and I was able to enjoy Wonder Woman. And it was so much fun it was worth every penny. When I left out I was so excited I decided to take another picture.

And then even though it was half through one in the morning my family and I went to Waffle House for a late night meal afterward. It was so much fun.

So yes, this was the perfect birthday. I got to go watch a movie that was actually worth seeing and it will be a memory I’ll treasure forever. Thank you for reading my post. If you want to know a little bit more about how I felt about Wonder Woman check out my spoiler-free review. You won’t want to miss it.
