We’re Nine Days Away from ‘Black Widow’

Nine days from now I will be seeing a Marvel movie for the first time in two years. No, this isn’t a highly-anticipated series that’s going to run for six weeks and leave us clamoring for more answers every week. It’s one two hour and fourteen minute film and that’s it. It’s an exciting prospect.

So, in anticipation for the 24th movie in the MCU, here’s some more Black Widow appreciation. First up, I share another favorite Black Widow moment. Enjoy!

Captain America: The Winter Soldier was the movie that turned me into a Black Widow fan. This film shined a light on her story that hadn’t been shone before and it made me empathize with her character and want to know (and see) more.

But it was this scene that I remember bringing a smile to my face. Steve Rogers is beginning to forge a new friendship with future Cap, Sam Wilson, when Natasha Romanoff drives up in a sleek, low to the ground, black Corvette, looking like the ultimate spy that she is. Then she does something that she ultimately never does again in the MCU; she tells a joke: “Hey fellas. Does anyone know where the Smithsonian is? I’m here to pick up a fossil.”

In that one moment we learn two things: A) she likes to drive in style and B) she’s actually a laid-back person if you get to know her, which shows how comfortable she had gotten with Steve Rogers. It was a wonderful moment that I thought was perfect to highlight today.

It’s Ten Days Away from ‘Black Widow’!

Oh my goodness, it’s almost time. Ten days away from the film we’ve been waiting years for. Ten days until all of the tv spots and trailers culminate into one complete movie that will either be decent like Captain Marvel, good like Doctor Strange, or great like Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

In anticipation for the film, I will be sharing my favorite Black Widow moments, the evolution of her outfits over the years and style over the years, a look at the posters for her standalone film, and even some incredible fan art along the way. Enjoy!

The First Time I Realized I Liked Black Widow

Black Widow Tricks Loki Scene - The Avengers 2012 - YouTube

When I first saw Black Widow it was for a brief moment in Iron Man 2. I remember watching her first action scene in that film (you know the one where she defeats all the bad guys in the hallway) and I wasn’t a fan. But, it was Scarlett Johansson’s first time playing a superhero and you could tell she wasn’t entirely used to the action star persona.

Two years later in The Avengers you could already tell that she had grown much more comfortable with the character and was beginning to hone Black Widow. But it wasn’t until this scene opposite Loki that I began to understand there was more to Black Widow than just a pretty face.

We learn that she’s had a very dark past as a Russian spy and that it was Clint Barton that decided to give her a second chance, hence her strong bond with him. But above all, we see her trick Loki, a man who thinks he’s so smart, into revealing his plan to unleash the Hulk.

She’s not just a woman who kicks butt and looks pretty doing it, more importantly she’s very smart, and it was there and then that my love for Black Widow began.

The Latest ‘Black Widow’ Trailer Has Got Me Pumped!

It’s happening. It’s finally happening! Black Widow is actually coming out on July 9 and with that being said a new trailer dropped on Saturday. And yeah, it’s the best trailer yet. Here it is.

This trailer was so great. The callbacks to her time as an Avenger, the flashback sequences to her early childhood and I guess the separation from her family, Taskmaster looks epic, and this looks like a story worth joining the long list of MCU installments.

Jac Schaeffer was the head writer for WandaVision and we all know how that turned. It was a stunning display of creativity and it perfectly provided Wanda the Scarlet Witch origin story that she deserved. Schaeffer knows how to write stories for bad*** broads so Black Widow is going to be a treat.

And literally just now the Loki official trailer dropped so…I’m about to watch it. *excited clap*

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a fantastic day.

‘Black Widow’ Gets Another Release Date and Disney+ Gets More Highly-Anticipated Content

Well, it’s official; Black Widow is coming out on July 9 simultaneously in theaters and on Disney+ with Premier Access. The model must be doing well with Raya and the Last Dragon considering that Disney has decided to move forward with this approach for Marvel Studios’ upcoming movie.

With Black Widow being delayed yet again, we’ve also got a new date for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings which is now slated for a September 3 release. And then just two months after that we’ll apparently be getting Eternals on November 5 and a month later Spider-Man 3 on December 17 if everything goes according to plan.

If there was ever a time for MCU fatigue that would be now with at least three Marvel Disney+ series still set to debut (Loki, What If…?, and Hawkeye) and now four movies to watch in the last five months of the year. Yeah, it’s a bit excessive but as a Marvel fan I am here for all of it.

Cruella (2021) - IMDb

And then there was even more Disney news. Cruella, the origin story of Disney’s evilest villain, Cruella de Vil, is now simultaneously coming out on May 28 in theaters and on Disney+. I am very excited to see this movie and how Emma Stone can recreate this classic character in her youth. However, I hope the movie keeps her unapologetically evil and doesn’t try to humanize her too much to the point where we actually see her as a bit of a hero, not the terrifying lady that we know in 101 Dalmatians. But I will definitely be watching this via Premier Access because I’m just not that invested to see this in theaters.

And then on June 18, one week after the Loki premiere, Disney/Pixar’s newest movie, Luca will be coming to Disney+ free of charge. Yay!

All in all, Disney is going to bring plenty of smiles to our faces this year.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a fantastic day.

‘Black Widow’ Gets Another Major Delay

Yes. Black Widow is getting yet another delayed release date and this one, oh this one is a doozy. It was announced yesterday that the film would not theaters until May! of 2021.

I am so sad. I miss Marvel Studios’ films so much, I really miss these characters and I was really looking forward to seeing Black Widow on the big screen this year but it looks like we won’t be getting that now will we?

And now, because of this delay, we will not be getting Shang-Chi and the Master of the Ten Rings until July 9, 2021 and Eternals will arrive next November, pushing the releases of Spider-Man 3, and Thor: Love and Thunder to 2022.

It’s a blow to the heart, seriously. Yes, we’re getting WandaVision this year, probably still in December, but just knowing that we won’t get to feel the joy of seeing a Marvel Studios on the big screen this year is actually kind of devastating for me. I really wanted to see more about this Taskmaster fellow and how this movie will help elevate Black Widow’s conclusion in Endgame.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a fantastic day.
