Where Does ‘Peter Pan and Wendy’ Rank Amongst the Disney Live-Action Remakes?

Peter Pan and Wendy has recently made its debut on Disney+, and yes, I loved it! I’m not sure how it compares to Disney’s 1953 Peter Pan because I’ve never seen it, but I can say that it was as magical as I’d hoped. And yes, Jude Law’s Captain Hook was perfect. So, I figured I’d share where I’d rank it among Disney’s live-action films. Enjoy!

11. Pinocchio

This movie excited me in the first half, but its final thirty minutes were so unbelievably dreadful that I knew instantly this was the worst of the Disney remakes.

‘Mulan’ And All of Its Flaws

Mulan is now available free of charge to all Disney+ streamers and so I thought it would be the perfect time to revisit the film after my second viewing yesterday (I was one of those people who paid $30 to see it early) and share my thoughts with you all.

In short, as a little girl, Mulan was my favorite Disney princess. She was brave and fierce, qualities in which inspired and wowed me. When I heard they were doing a live-action version I couldn’t be more excited, especially when they chose to forego songs to make it a more epic experience. I was like, “Heck yeah, let’s do this!”

And yet now, after a few viewings, I only see the flaws in Mulan instead of the good and boy are there a lot of flaws. So, let’s get to them.

Movie Review Flashback: ‘The Nutcracker and the Four Realms’

The Nutcracker, it’s my favorite classical music of all time. As a child, I would listen to The Nutcracker every night (and it didn’t even have to be Christmas time.) The music was magical, transporting me to another world where I was a ballerina dancing gracefully to the lilting melodies of the album.

In November of 2018, Disney released a live-action adaptation of the classic Nutcracker story and it was bombarded with awful reviews by the critics. It currently has a 33% critics and audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes and sits at a 5.5 out of 10-star ratings on IMDb. Pretty dismal right?

Don’t believe the haters.

I watched this film very recently and I was like, “What’s so terrible about this film?”

Yeah, it isn’t the best Disney movie I’ve ever seen but it wasn’t as horrible as everyone seemed to claim either. The same thing happened with A Wrinkle in Time. People said it was a horrible film but when I watched it I was pleasantly surprised.

Both of these films have predictable storylines, yes, but these are children’s movies. They are designed to inspire, not win Oscars for Best Picture. For children, especially little girls, films like The Nutcracker and the Four Realms and A Wrinkle in Time celebrate the power of girls and how we can find ways to be heroes against all odds.

If you’re a parent and you have little children I highly recommend you watch this with your family this holiday season. I’m sure you will be pleasantly surprised. And besides, who doesn’t love The Nutcracker?

I’m giving this film 87 out of 100 and 3.75 out 5 stars. Like I said, it isn’t the best Disney movie I’ve ever seen (not b a long shot) but it is way better than people are saying.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a lovely day.

My Top 5 Favorite Live-Action Disney Remakes

Walt Disney Studios has thought of something brilliant; remake their animated classics for this generations’ youth. There have been some hits and misses but overall these films are reintroducing these stories to children in bright, colorful, and memorable ways. Today, I’m sharing a lit of the five Disney remakes that have made me really, really happy. Enjoy!

5. Cinderella

I’ve never seen the original film, I just remember reading the stories and finding myself lost in the pictures and the wonder of it all. When I finally watched Cinderella I was impressed by its story, I loved the extra material, and Cate Blanchett was an absolutely despicably perfect evil stepmother. And the costumes, oh my goodness they were gorgeous.

Plus, I thought Lily James was a beautiful and very sweet Cinderella.

‘Lady and the Tramp’ Is SOOOOOOO Cute!

I have never seen Lady and the Tramp. I mean, everyone knows about that iconic moment when Lady and the Tramp are eating spaghetti but that was all I knew so yesterday my sister and I watched the live-action version of Lady and the Tramp and gushing is an understatement.

There was a movie I used to practically watch every day when I was a kid and that was Stuart Little. That was my favorite childhood movie and I know for a fact, Lady and the Tramp would’ve been another one of those childhood favorites because this film was sooooo freaking cute.

I mean, it’s a movie full of dogs. How can you not get overwhelmed with cuteness? Oh my goodness, I loved it so much and I was so touched that, of course, because it’s a Disney movie, I had to hold back tears at the end.

This film was really great and undoubtedly one of my favorite live-action Disney movies. I’m giving it 100 out of 100 and 5 out of 5 stars. It was actually perfect.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a spectacular day.
