Should Poe Have a Love Interest in ‘Episode IX’?

When you think of Star Wars romance may not be the first thing that comes to mind but it’s, surprisingly, one of the franchise’s greatest aspects. The reason why the original trilogy was such a well-rounded trio of movies is because every aspect of those films were perfect, especially the romantic side of things. Han and Leia’s love story is, in my opinion, the greatest romance in science-fiction movies and it helped make The Empire Strikes Back easily one of the best (or best) Star Wars films ever made.

Since then the aspect of romance in this franchise has been a little sub par. The love story between Anakin and Padme was straight down icky for a couple of reasons. One; Padme knew Anakin when he was a boy and she was a teenager so to think that she fell in love with him when he grew up is kind of weird. And two; their chemistry was so off watching them together just didn’t look right. You could tell Hayden Christensen and Natalie Portman were acting like they liked each other and that’s bad.

Should ‘Episode IX’ Be Split Into Two Movies?

Episode IX has started filming (*squeal*) and that means before we know it the first teaser featuring the highly-anticipated Star Wars movie will be out for all to see. But recently a very interesting rumor started circling the internet that this Skywalker/Solo saga finale will be split into two parts and when I heard it I got so excited at the thought.

You see, The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi were unconventionally placed together because both of these films’ stories take place within a week and a half of each other. J.J Abrams ended The Force Awakens in such an exciting cliffhanger that Rian Johnson, the director and writer of The Last Jedi, wanted to know what happened next so he continued the story from where The Force Awakens left off. It was the first time this had ever happened in Star Wars because both previous trilogies featured sequels that took place years after their predecessors (Attack of the Clones is set ten years after The Phantom MenaceThe Empire Strikes Back is set three years after A New Hope.)

And The Last Jedi ended with such an intact statement that the story could honestly go anywhere from here on out. It felt more like a finale than a continuation into the next film and that’s where the point of this post comes in.

It’s Official. Lando Is Going To Appear in ‘Episode IX’

Lucasfilm hasn’t confirmed that Billy Dee Williams will reprise his role for Episode IX but it’s become obvious that he will as he has recently canceled a bunch of his conference engagements throughout the rest of the year. Hmm, I wonder why. And honestly, this is great news.

Every classic Star Wars character besides Lando has been involved with this current trilogy. For years Star Wars fans have been wondering where is everyone’s favorite caped smuggler-turned-rebel? We had been given the explanation that he was once again Baron of Cloud City but that felt like a sorry excuse not to have him participate in the films. I’m so glad to think that finally he will get the recognition he deserves and play, hopefully, a decent-sized role in this upcoming Star Wars movie.

Ah, I’m so excited! I can’t wait to see what Lando will be up to over thirty years after the events of Return of the Jedi and I’m so glad J.J Abrams is telling this story. He brought so much magic and nostalgia to The Force Awakens with his perfect revival of these classic characters which means he will provide Lando plenty of justice.

I would also love to see a settled down Lando with potentially a wife or at least a child. When the first rumors started coming out for Episode IX one of those rumors was that a young actress of color was being cast for a mysterious role and some people, including me, suspected that this new character could be Lando’s daughter. Wouldn’t that be awesome?

Not only would that perfectly fit in with the tone of this trilogy which is highly focused one the next generation of young heroes but I think I would lose it if Lando returned with a beautiful daughter in tow. I mean, can you imagine how cool she would be, cape and all?

Of course, this may be a bunch of bologna and Lando may not return in Episode IX after all, for like I said before, Lucasfilm hasn’t confirmed he will appear in this trilogy finale. But if he does it will be very exciting indeed. 🙂

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a splendid day. May the Force be with you.

Keri Russel Is Rumored To Join ‘Episode IX’

Episode IX begins filming this month and it seems a new actress will be joining the cast for this Star Wars finale. FX’s The Americans actress, Keri Russel, is highly rumored to play a mystery role in the upcoming Star Wars movie and that’s exciting news indeed for two reasons.

One, that means there will be even more fascinating female characters to enjoy in Star Wars. Disney has made the Star Wars franchise such an inclusive instrument of movie making and to see that yet another actress is set to appear in another Star Wars film is super excitign to see.

Secondly, it’s always fun contemplating who certain actors or actresses will be portrayed as. The easy answer is that she’s probably going to play an officer or commander of the Resistance because she just seems like the perfect candidate for that role. Or she could be on the First Order side of things and potentially be a major female villain for the film in the absence of Captain Phasma. Or…and this is where my imagination turns a little bonkers, but what if she was cast for the role of Rey’s mother?

The two actresses definitely have their similarities. They both have the same square face shapes and while Daisy Ridley is clearly a different complexion than Keri Russel that doesn’t matter as much because Rey has a father too. She could’ve gotten her complexion from him.

Wouldn’t this be an astonishing twist?! Here was Kylo Ren saying that her parents were drunkards who died in the Jakku desert and it turns out that they are in fact alive and well. That would be absolutely fascinating and would take the emotional complexity of Episode IX to the next level.

Of course, Keri Russel will probably not be playing Rey’s mystery mother but if she is I am going to lose it with excitement. Please J.J Abrams, please bring the conversation of Rey’s parents come around full circle in this most satisfying scenario. (Please.)

All in all, this is exciting news and I can’t wait to share more tantalizing rumors with you all. I thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day. May the Force be with you.

Two More Rumors Surrounding ‘Episode IX’ Have Arrived

Episode IX is about to go into production and while ideas and concepts of the film are being shrouded by the secrets of the Force a few rumors are still managing to seep through the the cracks and I’m happy to report that there are more rumors to share with you all. Of course, the rumors should be taken with a grain of slat lest they be total distractions but if they are true they could also be POTENTIAL SPOILERS as well so if you would rather stay in the dark I advise you to discontinue reading this now. Okay, here are the rumors.

Yavin IV is the earliest rebel base to appear in Star Wars and it made a glorious comeback in Rogue One. Now it’s been said that scenes will be filmed at the site in the U.K where Yavin IV was built which means we might see the return of Yavin IV in Episode IX. J.J Abrams is the king of nostalgia, as The Force Awakens was basically a nostalgia ice cream cake that many Star Wars fans couldn’t keep their hands out of. If he brought Yavin IV back into the fold that would be very awesome indeed.

The site where the set for Yavin IV was built can also be made into anything the movie makers want it to be so this actually might be a completely different planet we’re going to with a Yavin IV vibe. Whatever the case, this is exciting news all the same.

Lando Is Rumored To Appear In ‘Episode IX’

Have you ever wondered why every classic Star Wars character from the original trilogy returned except for Lando Calrissian? Well, it looks like that conundrum will be resolved as rumors have recently surfaced that Billy Dee Williams will indeed reprise his role as Lando Calrissian for Episode IX and I couldn’t be happier.

J.J Abrams did a marvelous job bringing these wonderful characters from the original trilogy back into the Star Wars universe in The Force Awakens and I have no doubt that he will do Lando justice in Episode IX.

Of course, these are just rumors and it hasn’t been officially announced that Billy Dee Williams has been cast for the movie but if these rumors are true then my excitement for Episode IX has just grown a little bit more.

Do these rumors excite you as well? I’d love to hear your opinion in the comments below. I thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day. May the Force be with you.

Rumors for ‘Episode IX’ Have Arrived and They Are Very…Interesting

Now that The Last Jedi is firmly in my rearview mirror my attention should, of course, reside solely on the upcoming young Solo movie but my heart can’t stop thinking about Episode IX and it looks like I’m not the only one because rumors for the movie’s various plotlines have begun to surface and I’m here to share with you all of the juicy details. And just to let you know, these rumors are reportedly from Colin Trevorrow’s script (the director who was fired) so it isn’t clear if any of his ideas will actually make it into the final product. It’s still interesting to read though. 🙂

Reader Discretion Advised! These rumors may prove to be major spoilers in Episode IX and so if you’d rather stay in the blue I advise to discontinue reading this NOW. I thank you for heeding my warning and I hope you enjoy!

Five Years Have Passed

kyloawesome.jpg

Apparently, Episode IX will follow ‘Revenge of the Sith’ and ‘Return of the Jedi’ by jumping ahead by a fairly significant period of time (five years in this case). Kylo Ren’s rule over The First Order is now viewed as being “benevolent” by the majority of the Galaxy and not only is the Resistance no longer being rooted for by regular folk but there are even those within it wondering why they’re still fighting.

Now this sounds super exciting and different than what we’ve seen in the past. The Empire was always looked at as a terrible blight on the galaxy and Snoke’s First Order was viewed the same way but to think that Kylo Ren has turned the tyrannical organization into a government that is loved by many through the galaxy sounds awesome!
