It’s Official. Lando Is Going To Appear in ‘Episode IX’

Lucasfilm hasn’t confirmed that Billy Dee Williams will reprise his role for Episode IX but it’s become obvious that he will as he has recently canceled a bunch of his conference engagements throughout the rest of the year. Hmm, I wonder why. And honestly, this is great news.

Every classic Star Wars character besides Lando has been involved with this current trilogy. For years Star Wars fans have been wondering where is everyone’s favorite caped smuggler-turned-rebel? We had been given the explanation that he was once again Baron of Cloud City but that felt like a sorry excuse not to have him participate in the films. I’m so glad to think that finally he will get the recognition he deserves and play, hopefully, a decent-sized role in this upcoming Star Wars movie.

Ah, I’m so excited! I can’t wait to see what Lando will be up to over thirty years after the events of Return of the Jedi and I’m so glad J.J Abrams is telling this story. He brought so much magic and nostalgia to The Force Awakens with his perfect revival of these classic characters which means he will provide Lando plenty of justice.

I would also love to see a settled down Lando with potentially a wife or at least a child. When the first rumors started coming out for Episode IX one of those rumors was that a young actress of color was being cast for a mysterious role and some people, including me, suspected that this new character could be Lando’s daughter. Wouldn’t that be awesome?

Not only would that perfectly fit in with the tone of this trilogy which is highly focused one the next generation of young heroes but I think I would lose it if Lando returned with a beautiful daughter in tow. I mean, can you imagine how cool she would be, cape and all?

Of course, this may be a bunch of bologna and Lando may not return in Episode IX after all, for like I said before, Lucasfilm hasn’t confirmed he will appear in this trilogy finale. But if he does it will be very exciting indeed. 🙂

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a splendid day. May the Force be with you.

Should the Knights of Ren Still Wear Masks in ‘Episode IX’?

Episode IX is getting close to officially beginning filming and that means news about the film will probably be released within the next half year or so. One of the few, if only, topic that was not tampered with in The Last Jedi were the Knights of Ren.

We were introduced to the dark group in The Force Awakens through conversations between Snoke and Kylo Ren and a disturbing vision Rey obtained where we saw a quick flash of them. I think they were subtly hinted towards in The Last Jedi as Luke told Rey Ben Solo left his former burning Jedi temple with a handful of his students which definitely sounds like a nod towards the Knight of Ren. And it seems kind of inevitable that they will make their first official debut in this upcoming trilogy finale but things have changed since The Force Awakens.

Snoke is dead and Kylo Ren is the new Supreme Leader. And he has destroyed his old mask, no longer feeling that he needed to hide behind it anymore as it was a sign of weakness rather than intimidation or strength. So, will he let his fellow Knights of Ren followers to continue to be masked or will we finally get to see the faces behind these scary helmets?

How Should Leia Be Written Out of ‘Episode IX’?

One of the unexpected tragedies of 2016 was the surprise passing of Hollywood icon, Carrie Fisher. She died shortly before Episode VIII was even given a title and throughout the entire process of marketing for The Last Jedi it was chilling to think that this would be Leia’s final appearance in a Star Wars movie. I remember when I watched The Last Jedi for the first time I was patiently waiting to see how they would release her from this franchise. Time and time again it seemed like she was going to die but by the end of the film I was legitimately surprised to see that she was still very much alive in the context of the story and seemed to have no signs of passing away anytime soon. So that left me (and I’m sure the writers of Episode IX) with quite a conundrum to figure out. How is Lucasfilm going to possibly write out such an important character at such a pivotal time in the Resistance? Well, I have a few ideas that I would like to share and maybe these theories will turn out to be correct. Who knows. 🙂

Leia Slowly Succumbs To Grief

Star-Wars-The-Last-Jedi-General-Leia.jpg

Throughout Leia’s involvement in the Star Wars franchise she has experienced a lot of sorrow and heartbreak and The Last Jedi only built on that narrative. In The Last Jedi we got to see her having an intimate moment with her own thoughts and worries and it was one of the most profound scenes in the film as we got to see Leia vulnerable for the first time. While Rian Johnson, of course, didn’t know that Carrie Fisher was going to die it seems like he has perfectly set up this idea that General Leia has grown old and tired, she’s looking for newer, younger leadership to take her place in the form of Poe Dameron, and after the loss of her brother, Luke Skywalker, she slowly begins to give in to the grief that she has been trying to suppress since the annihilation of Alderaan. But does that tarnish Leia’s legacy?

For years she has been viewed as this strong, independent heroine who doesn’t take orders from anybody and refuses to be placed in the damsel-in-distress mold. Should a woman like this finally face death from a cause of immense heartbreak? I don’t know, honestly.

What’s Next for Kylo Ren?

Kylo Ren is my favorite character in this current Star Wars trilogy because he’s such an intriguingly complex character. In The Force Awakens he was a confused assassin who struggled between the pull of the light and the darkness. After killing Han Solo he supposedly cemented his stance as a pupil of the darkness but the terrible sacrifice only weakened him instead.

In The Last Jedi Rian Johnson humanized the “monster” that he was as he revealed the backstory to how Ben Solo became Kylo Ren. He turned the First Order commander into a victim rather than a crazed psychopath who just wanted to kill everything he once knew and loved. Kylo Ren is placed in a different light as he experiences this strange bond between him and Rey and we see him as a human being who just wanted some love and companionship for crying out loud. He killed Snoke for the opportunity to make a new galactic order with Rey but of course she didn’t go along with his plan and Kylo Ren became his same old bitter, angry self again.

Long story short, he had a showdown with Luke, he lost the confrontation miserably, missed his chance to wipe out the last of the Resistance due to the mirage Luke distraction, and vowed to destroy Rey. So when we see the young Ren again what will he be up to? He’s now the Supreme Leader but he can prove to be a powerful leader or will his anger issues get in the way and ultimately become his downfall? These are some of the topics that I will discuss as I theorize what should happen next for Kylo Ren. Enjoy!

What’s Next for Rose?

Rian Johnson introduced a new major character to this current trilogy in the form of Rose, a Resistance mechanic who gets swept on an incredible adventure with Finn through the galaxy to stop the First Order. Rose was special for a couple of reasons. First of all, she was another strong woman that was being introduced to the Star Wars universe and that is always exciting. And secondly, she was the first major female Asian character to ever appear in a Star Wars movie and that was yet another boundary the Star Wars franchise had crossed. Awesome! But what now? After the events of The Last Jedi what should happen to her and where should her story go? That’s what I’m about to theorize and I hope you enjoy. 🙂

Rose Was Just A Mechanic But Now She Is A Resistance Fighter. What Next?

Rose had a tragic beginning to her story. She had just lost her best friend, her older sister, Paige, and she was an emotional wreck but she was able to find something worth caring about again in Finn. Finn, to her, was a shining light that portrayed what the Resistance was all about and she couldn’t help but look up to him but when she found out he was a fraud, of sorts, she couldn’t believe it. As she spent time with him she realized how kind of a person Finn truly was and her caring for him started to take a romantic turn. Long story short, she fought with the Resistance, nearly killed herself to save Finn’s life, and she told the ex-stormtrooper that she loved him. When we see her again in Episode IX what will she be up to? Well, that’s what I’m going to explain in this next segment.

poe-gallery-poe-finn-rose_5b5c585d.jpeg

Rose was a Resistance fighter at the end of The Last Jedi but when we see Rose again I think J.J Abrams should keep her as a mechanic but she should undoubtedly be a lead mechanic. I would love to see Rose create some fascinating new upgrades to the X-Wings, the Fleet, and the Resistance soldiers’ weapons and gear that could help the Resistance in their fight against the First Order. That would be a great use of her character and could make her a very important character to this last movie.

I mean, what if she could make something, a weapon or some sort of device, that was so powerful that the First Order would be deathly afraid of it like the Rebellion used to react when they heard of the first Death Star? Not only would that be something that hasn’t happened before in Star Wars but it would also truly incorporate that mechanical aspect of hers. If we turn her into a plain Resistance fighter like everyone else she won’t be any different than Finn or Poe but if she’s the one who’s behind-the-scenes making mechanical upgrades that could help the Resistance in their fight against the First Order that would be pretty incredible.

Of course, she’ll still have a compelling story as she delves into her feelings with Finn and tries to defeat the First Order for her deceased sister, Rose, but I feel that that would be the most imaginative way to use her character.

I thank you for reading this theory and I hope you have a fantastic day. May the Force Be With You.

What’s Next for Finn?

Finn has become undoubtedly one of the greatest and most recognizable characters in Star Wars and after having a rather adventurous time in both The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi the last leg of his journey is drawing closer and so I’m going to create a theory of where he should be the next time we see him. Enjoy!

Finn Is a Bona Fide Resistance Hero Now…So What’s Next?

MV5BMTU2NTQ2NDA3MF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwMDczMjIyMzI@._V1_SX1500_CR0,0,1500,999_AL_ (1).jpg

When we saw Finn again after the horror of what happened to him in The Force Awakens he was definitely ready to jet to the farthest star system away from both the First Order and the Resistance. He had just come out of a coma and was healed to a point thanks to his bacta suit and had only woken to a situation worse than he had left after nearly getting killed by Kylo Ren. But throughout the film he starts to realize what it means to be a Resistance fighter and the people, like the children in Canto Bight, that he could save. Long story short, he decided to stay with the Resistance and fight the First Order head on and no longer run away from the tyrannical organization. But if you noticed, in the last forty minutes of The Last Jedi his heroic side sprang forth tenfold and that leads me to this next segment.

finn-main_952e10d2.jpeg

If Finn is such a Resistance hero by the end of The Last Jedi then that means when next we see him he’ll undoubtedly have gained a rank. I think in Episode IX we should see Finn as Captain Finn. Not only would be that symbolistic of his two movie long feud with Captain Phasma and kind of fitting that he would rise to the same rank but it would also be very awesome to see him in a position of leadership like that. It’ll really show how far his character has come and I think it would be very cool to see.

MV5BOTE5NjYwNTQ3M15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwMzI1NjY4MzI@._V1_SX1777_CR0,0,1777,744_AL_ (1).jpg

Another thing that would be super awesome to introduce to his character is for him to try to recruit First Order defects and this is why I say this. In a deleted scene for The Last Jedi we see Finn in a confrontation with his rival, Captain Phasma. As he is surrounded by stormtroopers waiting for Phasma’s command to end him he tells them of Phasma’s traitorous actions when she sold out the First Order to save her own skin in The Force Awakens. In that moment the stormtroopers hesitated and you could visibly see them questioning their loyalty to Phasma.

Of course, because Phasma is awesome she killed the stormtroopers within seconds but Finn could easily leave more seeds. What if he could find other people like him in the First Order that are questioning their reason to stay in the First Order and he can recruit those teetering individuals? That would be SO COOL! It would also give an interesting story line to Star Wars that hasn’t been seen before and that’s always an important thing for this franchise. When so many fans and viewers are wanting new stories to get commited to with these movies you definitely need to bring a new direction that people wouldn’t see coming and I think this would undoubtedly be a plus to Finn’s story.

Of course these are just theories and none of it might come true but if some of it is correct I will totally be surprised and thrilled. I thank you for reading and I hope you have a glorious day.

What’s Next for Rey?

I know it’s still a long time before Episode IX comes out in theaters (605 days to be exact) but I’ve owned The Last Jedi over a month now, I’ve watched and analyzed the movie over a dozen times, and it’s time for the Episode IX theories to start flowing. Especially with the filming for the movie beginning this summer. So, through the next few days I’m going to provide my theories on where these characters’ stories should go next and maybe my theories will be slightly correct. Only time will tell. 🙂 Enjoy!

And Rey’s Journey Continues….

Rey has undergone an emotional and fascinating journey as she has learned about the Force, discovered that her parents were Jakku bums (I know that sounds terrible but it’s the truth,) and become the new hope for the Resistance but now where does her story take her? What could J.J Abrams pick up story wise where Rian Johnson left off? Well, I have an idea and even though it might not happen I think it sounds pretty awesome.
