‘The Rings of Power’ Finally Gets Its First Trailer

Okay, we’ve been waiting years for this. Here’s the first trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

My first worry going into the trailer was my fear that it wouldn’t look, visually, like the world Peter Jackson had created. So you can imagine my relief when I noticed that it looked very similar. colorwise, to The Hobbit.

Does this look like it has the potential to be very good? Yes, it does. Will it be very good? I’m not quite sure.

I can definitively say that I like the casting for a young Galadriel. I like that she seems fierce, determined, and very much in charge but I also think she has the ability to be as graceful and powerful as Cate Blanchett. Young Elrond, hmm, not so much.

He does not look like Elrond at all to me and while I like his hair I don’t know if he’s going to win me over…but maybe he will. All in all, the trailer didn’t lay me out but it stifled some of my misgivings.

What do you think about the trailer? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a spectacular day.

The First Images of ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ Are Finally Here and I’m Intrigued

Yes, the time is almost upon us folks! This fall the highly-anticipated billion-dollar Amazon series based on J.R.R Tolkien’s work is finally arriving and in a fascinating (and long) article from Vanity Fair we got a first glimpse back into a world I cherish dearly. Here’s the post: Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings Series Rises: Inside The Rings of Power.

It’s a great read. And here are the photos of the brand-new adventure and some of the characters that will inhabit it.

Throwback Friday: Arwen, Eowyn, Galadriel, or Tauriel: Who Was the Greatest Heroine?

Both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies were mainly male-dominated but amidst all of the lovable heroes there were a few powerful heroines who helped not only make the movies better but also shined in their own personal spotlights. So today I’m making a post to celebrate these incredible women and debate which heroine was the greatest. Enjoy!

Arwen

Arwen never had much screen time in The Lord of the Rings trilogy and for the most part she was treated as solely Aragorn’s elven love interest, which is super boring. Especially considering how great of a warrior she really was. She not only evaded the Nazgul as she transported a grievously wounded Frodo to Rivendell but she also managed to conjure the river to her aid to sweep the Nazgul away from those lands! That’s pretty awesome! She would probably be my favorite heroine if she had more scenes displaying her as a warrior instead of a sappy, smooching elf. I still love her though. 🙂

Morfydd Clark is Set to Play a Young Galadriel in ‘The Lord of the Rings’ Amazon Series

Every few months I check on the progress of The Lord of the Rings Amazon series which is still scheduled to arrive sometime in 2021 and a cast has been created for the show filled to the brim with actors and actresses I have never seen before. However, there was one actor that stood out, that being Morfydd Clark.

The series will transpire during the Second Age of Middle-Earth, meaning we may get a firsthand account of how Sauron created the One Ring and the incredible battle that transpired thereafter involving elves and men against Sauron’s mighty army. While the cast hired for the show is mostly for roles unheard of in The Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit trilogies there was one familiar name among the bunch.

It appears that this actress, Morfydd Clark, will be portraying a young Galadriel in the series, which could be really exciting. Of course, we’ve supposedly seen a younger Galadriel in the opening narration of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring but that doesn’t matter because we saw Ian Holm as a young Bilbo in that film as well but, unsurprisingly, Peter Jackson recast the character with Martin Freeman bringing young Bilbo Baggins to life in The Hobbit Trilogy.

Honestly, this is exciting news and I truly hope this The Lord of the Rings series becomes the next Game of Thrones/The Mandalorian craze that’ll have fans clamoring for more.

How do you feel about the casting decision for a young Galadriel? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day.

Tauriel

Tauriel was the only major female character in the entire Hobbit trilogy and while she was the only leading lady she definitely stole the show whenever she was around with her awesome fighting skills and her elven benevolence. Even though she was clearly beautiful I loved that the writers didn’t treat her as just a love interest and provided her a story that, while it wasn’t part of the actual book, helped make the films that much more compelling to watch.
