Ever since I saw Groot for the first time in the teaser for Guardians of the Galaxy I have loved this character for his unique Chewbacca-like persona in the film. Of course, the original Groot would end up perishing in the first Guardians movie but, being a tree and all, he would live on through his offspring, another humanoid tree creature named Groot.
His evolution in the franchise has been one of the most literally evolving stories in the MCU and I’m so excited to take a deeper look at his posters. Enjoy!
Guardians of the Galaxy
This poster is so cool. The original Groot was obviously of a much kinder variety. The pleasant smile on his face highlights his cheery personality and the blue background is just…beautiful.

Groot is one of the most unique characters in the MCU for his tree-like form and his simple “I am Groot” vocabulary. When I first saw him I didn’t know what to make of the tree hero but now I can’t imagine the Marvel Cinematic Universe without him. So, on this exciting week of Who’s Your Favorite it’s all about the Groot. I hope you enjoy. 🙂
When Groot first came onto the Marvel scene he immediately attracted the love of most fans with his Chewbacca-esque personality and role within the Guardians of the Galaxy. He was sweet, at times disturbingly violent despite his benevolent disposition, but most importantly, he was as heroic as any hero has ever been.
He sacrificed his life to save his friends and it honestly is one of the bravest moments from any hero in the MCU. Now every time I watch that moment when he says to Rocket, “We are Groot” I get a little teary because he was so cool.
I Am Groot. Translated: RIP Classic Groot.

Marvel has introduced over two dozen fascinating and fabulous superheroes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Some of the most memorable of these wonderful characters have been, undoubtedly, the Guardians of the Galaxy. While they are clearly a bunch of misfits they have grabbed the hearts of Marvel fans and casual moviegoers around the world with their uncanny heroism. But which of these lovable scoundrels is your favorite? That’s what I’m here to ask you on this week’s segment of Who’s Your Favorite? Here are the characters.
Groot is practically the Chewbacca of the MCU. He’s big and represents the brute strength of the Guardiab, he speaks a foreign language in the form of “I am Groot” which we, as moviegoers, can’t understand, and he’s awfully sweet and kind (at least every version of Groot except the teenage Groot.) Groot is one of the coolest, most original characters I have ever seen in a movie and that’s why he’s so awesome.

When the Guardians of the Galaxy were getting ready to make their MCU debut in 2014 I was highly skeptical about how well the movie was going to do because it was so strange. Marvel was taking us viewers to places we had never seen before and introducing us to aliens and characters as wildly different as a talking raccoon. You would think a superhero movie with a talking raccoon! would be an ultimate flop but to my great surprise it wasn’t. In fact, it’s still one of the best Marvel movies ever made as its simple storyline has become more and more enjoyable over the years. Now with the Guardians officially meeting The Avengers in Infinity War their cool points have risen a lot, as I got to see how truly incredible they really are as the Guardians of the Galaxy. The other day I watched the Guardians of the Galaxy and as I was watching the film I asked myself which Guardian did I enjoy the most? Well, that’s what I’m here to share with you and I hope you enjoy.
The one good thing about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was that it introduced Mantis to the MCU and I’m so glad she ended up becoming a Guardian. What makes the Guardians so hilariously awesome is the wackiness of its occupants. Take Mantis for example. In a word she’s weird…but that’s why she’s so great. Only in the Guardians will you see characters as unique as Mantis and that’s why I love them so much.
I am Groot. Translated: Groot is awesome. 🙂

Groot is awesome in his own “I am Groot” way. I remember when I first saw him I was like, “Who’s this talking tree thingy?” He was definitely unique and a little odd but it didn’t take long for me to really latch onto his Chewbacca-esque character. He was so sweet, kind, and sometimes disturbingly violent but overall he was a great addition to the band of misfits, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and I’m excited to share with you his evolution in his previous two films. Enjoy!
Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
Groot is just a really nice character. I mean he’s undoubtedly the nicest member of the Guardians of the Galaxy. His involvement in the movie wasn’t complex in the slightest. He just followed everyone around like a lumbering tree who, on occasion, gave his opinion in certain situations. So it’s kind of sad to think that he came to a tragic ending as he died sacrificing himself for his friends near the end of the movie. Yes, if you didn’t know, he died! James Gunn just recently told everyone in a tweet that Groot actually did die when Ronin’s ship crashed and I was instantly heartbroken. For years I had thought that Baby Groot was just Groot reborn but no, that was his son. The original Groot ended up perishing in that crash and that has made that heartwarming scene when he tells Rocket, “We are Groot” all the more touching and heartbreaking at once.
“I am Groot.” (RIP Groot.)
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)
And then there’s Baby Groot. Oh my goodness, Baby Groot is so cute and he could’ve been even cuter if the movie had been written better. Did he really have any development in this Guardians sequel? Not really. He was just cute throughout the entire movie…and sometimes a little feisty, but there wasn’t a lot of character development for the character. I mean come on, he’s a baby. Of course he’s not going to be written with as much care and attention as say, the adults! But he was one of the few positives to the movie and that’s good because the film needed that.
Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
And now when Groot returns he’ll be a grumpy teenage Groot, which I’m sure will bring a lot of comedy to the film, and I’m excited to see this new version of Groot that we haven’t exactly discovered about.
I am super excited to see this movie and I can’t wait to see Groot return. I thank you for reading and I hope you have a beautiful day.
