‘Deadpool 3’ Is Official And I’m So Excited!

Wow, this just popped out of nowhere. Ryan Reynolds just shared on social media that Deadpool 3 is officially in the works and guess who’s joining him?! Hugh Jackman, baby!

Yep, you heard correctly. Hugh Jackman is back to reprise his role as Wolverine and I couldn’t be happier. A few years ago this would’ve felt strange considering his epic swan song in the literal Oscar-winning movie Logan back in 2017 but now that we have the multiverse the idea of Deadpool and Wolverine starring in a movie together just sounds right.

Well, that was a fun surprise on a seemingly quiet Tuesday.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day.

‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ Is Almost One of the Best X-Men Movies Ever Made

Well, I have now watched every X-Men movie with the name X-Men in the title and honestly, from all of the atrocious things I’ve heard about X-Men Origins: Wolverine, I thought it would be the worst film. To my great surprise, this movie had my attention from the get-go.

Is X-Men Origins: Wolverine a bad movie? Well, yes it is. The CGI is beyond dismal, there are a lot of obvious plot holes and convenient setups to make this film feel connected to the previous movies, and it gets kind of corny in some areas. And yet, I came away from the film mildly shocked.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a surprisingly really good origin story for the claw-wielding character as it reveals to us his evil (and really scary) brother, Victor a.k.a Sabretooth. The love story he has in this film feels more real and connected with me more than the hot romances he usually has with Jean Grey or that lady in The Wolverine.

The supporting characters were actually pretty cool and had me thoroughly surprised and whoa, Ryan Reynolds ACTUALLY plays Deadpool in this movie. I was not expecting that. Of course, it doesn’t connect with his role as Deadpool in his standalone films at all but still, it was an unexpected surprise.

As someone who thinks X-Men: Dark Phoenix is pretty good and despises X2, I felt that X-Men Origins: Wolverine–with a tidier script–could’ve easily been one of the best movies of the franchise. In short, I enjoyed it thoroughly.

I’ll give this movie 83 out of 100 and 3 out of 5 stars. It wasn’t anywhere close to perfect but hey, that was a fun ride.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day.

Is Hugh Jackman Coming Back as Wolverine?

I never thought I’d be writing this post. Four years ago, when Hugh Jackman made his last movie as Logan in Logan it felt like the proper swan song for the character. He died in the film, fans cried, and we all appreciated his dedication to the claw-wielding X-Men.

And yet, randomly in the past two days, Hugh Jackman shared two posts in his Instagram story that has fans, including me, buzzing. Here they are.

Two Random Movies On a Thursday: ‘The Aviator’ and ‘Real Steel’

I like to watch at least one movie every day. Some that I’ve seen literally dozens of times and others that I’ve never seen before. Today was one of those days where I sat back and turned on two films that were brand new to me: one being The Aviator, a Martin Scorsese movie about Howard Hughes and Real Steel, a random 2011 flick starring Hugh Jackman about boxing and robots.

The Aviator - Archive - Zurich Film Festival

The Aviator was the first movie I watched and I was less than impressed. The two hour and fifty minute film has its moments of intrigue but when it concluded I found myself wondering why every Scorsese movie I have ever watched leaves me feeling empty inside. Don’t get me wrong.

The film’s cast of recognizable faces keeps the movie afloat, specifically Cate Blanchett who plays a shockingly believable Katherine Hepburn and offers the most interesting of the film’s content. Leonardo Dicaprio, who plays Howard Hughes, also manages to keep me along for the ride as he mentally becomes more and more unstable until by the end, you can’t help feeling sorry for him. And yet, even with the brilliant performances of these two actors, the movie only seems to get more boring and more confusing.

I tried to really enjoy this film but after a while it just became exhausting. Scorsese has a style and unfortunately, I’m not a fan.

3/5 stars

Movie Review Flashback: ‘The Wolverine’ Is Just Plain Fun

I’ve watched basically all of the X-Men movies but there are some that I still haven’t seen yet, one of them being The Wolverine. Since it just dropped on Disney+ I decided to watch it and yeah, its conclusion was predictable, its one-liners were a bit cliche, but overall, I kind of had a blast.

I’m a fan of action films featuring martial arts heavy action scenes so with that aspect paired with Wolverine’s ultimate butt-kicking I found myself grinning on several occasions.

Just like all X-Men films, there’s a real sense of peril. For a while, I didn’t know who was going to live and who was going to die…well, I knew that Logan would make it but it still didn’t make watching him stave off death over and over again any less intense.

Movie Review Flashback: ‘Prisoners’ Is a Creepy, Riveting Thriller

I love a good mystery and The Silence of the Lambs is the best one conceived on the big screen with Anthony Hopkins’ unforgettably iconic Hannibal Lecter and Jodie Foster’s perfect written heroine, Clarice Starling starring alongside one another in a thriller worth watching.

While trying to find something to watch on HBO Max I ran into Prisoners, a haunting thriller starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal that came out in 2013. It sits at #200 on IMDb’s Top 250 movies and learning this I had to check it out. Here’s the synopsis.

When Keller Dover’s daughter and her friend go missing, he takes matters into his own hands as the police pursue multiple leads and the pressure mounts. Continue reading Movie Review Flashback: ‘Prisoners’ Is a Creepy, Riveting Thriller
