My Experience with ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’

James Cameron has done the seemingly impossible yet again. To this day, nobody does visual effects like Cameron. For three hours straight you’re sitting in a theater staring at the screen gobsmacked by how incredible every single shot is. The water, the creatures, the sweeping and dynamic shots, the action scenes, the

While the film garners an undebatable five stars for visual effects the actual story leaves a lot to be desired.

Its predecessor, Avatar, is a film that came out thirteen years ago and isn’t exactly the most memorable movie ever made. There aren’t any quotes that really stand out and the story is surprisingly forgettable. Because Cameron realizes this, Avatar: The Way of Water is an invisible soft reboot of the first film, introducing new characters who follow jarringly similar story beats to the first movie.

I’m About to See ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’

As I write this I’m roughly two and a half hours away from seeing Avatar: The Way of Water and I am excited.

In August I went to see the re-release of Avatar in IMAX and it was an experience I’ll never forget. Despite having seen the film three times the movie popped on the big screen in a way I wasn’t expecting. The third act is what really got me, its action scenes and triumphant moments filling my body with a sort of euphoric joy/wonder that I’ve never experienced with any other film.

Now I’m about to see the sequel 13 years in the making and I couldn’t be more ecstatic. Will this sequel truly live up to the hype? We’ll see! I can’t wait to share my thoughts after the movie.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a fantastic day.

‘Avatar’ Is Literally Mindblowing in IMAX 3D

13 years ago when Avatar entered the theaters and shocked the world with its jaw-dropping CGI-created world and characters I was 12 years old. I remember watching the film at home and being dazzled by how pretty the movie was but overall, I wasn’t impressed. I didn’t see the film again until about a decade later when it was playing on television and I decided to revisit it.

As a movie buff, I saw the movie with different eyes. I realized how impeccable the screenplay was, I absorbed the beauty of the film and its characters in a way I never had, and I was impressed by the movie. But I still wasn’t certain if people would get hyped for its sequel after such a long wait.

I’ve recently revisited the film a couple of times and with every viewing the movie seems to get a little better…and then I watched it in IMAX 3D yesterday.

I’ve Finally Seen ‘Titanic’ and Now My Head Hurts

Before I begin this review let me tell you that yes, I know the gist of Titanic. SPOILERS AHEAD! I knew that the film was practically the greatest love story ever told and I knew that Jack (Leonardo Dicaprio) dies. And yet despite knowing these things because the movie is one of most iconic films ever made I still found myself swept along this very tragic cruise ride.

Titanic Movie Facts | POPSUGAR Entertainment

The first hour and thirty minutes are rather typical, albeit a little magical, as we meet the protagonists of the story, Jack and Rose, as well as the film’s primary antagonist, Cal. Jack and Rose meet, among unexpectedly stressful circumstances, and instantly tension between the two blossoms. Rose is Cal’s fiancé but like all great love stories this is not the man she wants to be with. Instead she is quite literally swept off her feet by baby-faced Dicaprio whose good looks and infectious charm win her over easily. Like I said before, the first half of the film goes along pretty expectedly. It was the second half that made this film an undoubted Best Picture winner.

Watching ‘Avatar’ Again Has Made Me Excited for ‘Avatar 2’

I don’t watch Avatar often. The first time I watched it was in 2009 when it was all the rage. I remember enjoying it and being WOWED by the visuals. I hadn’t seen it again until a few years ago when I was reminded then why I enjoyed the film the first time I saw it. And then I watched it for only the third time yesterday with my sister and we were both overwhelmed by the beauty (oftentimes, literally) of the story.

No, Avatar isn’t a story unlike anything we’ve ever seen before but it does a great job honing the simplicity to new heights. By the last third of the film I wished I was an Avatar seeking to help protect Pandora from the humans’ greed alongside Jake Sully and Neytiri.

Avatar 2, which will come out next December, will have come out twelve years after the film that would wow audiences around the world and honestly if it’s just as good a story as the first film is, it just might dethrone Avengers: Endgame to reclaim the top spot as the highest-grossing movie of all time.

And the graphics, oh my goodness, they are going to be AMAZING! I can’t wait to eventually see the trailer for this highly-anticipated and long-awaited sequel.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a lovely day.
