‘The Mandalorian’ Should’ve Ended With Season 2

I just finished watching the finale of The Mandalorian, and to say that I’m peeved is an understatement. The Mandalorian was a show that felt like it took itself seriously for the first two seasons. There was character development and fascinating storytelling, and the finales left you reeling in some capacity.

I knew this season’s finale was going to have troubles when I learned that it was going to be a relatively short runtime for a season finale, clocking in at forty-one minutes. With credits and the recap, that runtime boils closer to something you’d see from a Clone Wars episode. And sure enough, the finale feels as if it’s moving a million miles an hour to conclude a story that ultimately was as lackluster as they come.

MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!

My Thoughts on ‘The Mandalorian’ So Far

Okay, we’re halfway through the third season, and this is my first review so far. Why? Well, if I’m being honest, which I always am, this season just hasn’t impressed me that much so far.

We haven’t had a season of The Mandalorian since 2020, and for such a long wait, it’s far more lackluster than I expected. The first episode had me smiling, but ultimately when I returned from the episode, I was baffled by the breakneck pacing of the episode’s several plots. The second episode was much more enjoyable, but I still found it to often be repetitive and sometimes poorly written. Such as Bo-Katan reminiscing about Mandalore at times when it was clear that Mando was in trouble. I found myself literally urging her from my room to move faster to save Din Djarin.

‘The Book of Boba Fett’ Is the Strangest Show I’ve Ever Seen

Despite the obvious fact that the last two episodes of The Mandalorian, I mean, The Book of Boba Fett (😏) have been phenomenal that doesn’t excuse the major failures of this show. Just look at the IMDb scores for the first four episodes.

Chapter 1: 7.4/10

Chapter 2: 8.3/10

Chapter 3: 6.4/10

Chapter 4: 7.6/10

These scores reveal a show that’s ultimately mediocre and that’s not bad…until one remembers that this is a show about Boba Fett, one of the most beloved characters in the franchise.

I Think ‘The Mandalorian’ Could Become a Movie

I know it may seem like a long shot but hear me out. The Mandalorian has become one of the most universally loved properties in Star Wars. Just look at what happened last week when Mando took over an entire episode of The Book of Boba Fett. People couldn’t stop talking about it.

So, with all of this love for this character and his story, just imagine if there was ever a movie.

I could see The Mandalorian‘s third season leading up to a nail-biting cliffhanger whose story continues with a powerful conclusion in the form of a massive, epic movie that we could see in all formats, including IMAX.

It would be the biggest movie event for Star Wars fans since The Force Awakens.

And even though I’m pretty sure this won’t happen it’s always fun to dream, right?

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day.

Movie Review Flashback: ‘TENET’: A Nonsensical Masterpiece

With Tenet now available for the masses on HBO Max, here’s my review.

Christopher Nolan is known for making movies with trippy plotlines that are hard to grasp but nice to look at and yet TENET makes Inception look like an Avengers movie.

TENET is incredible for all of its spectacle and seat-rumbling (due to its incredible sound in IMAX) glory but what it has in sheer eye-widening visuals it lacks in cohesive storytelling. Literally, I didn’t know what was going on from the very beginning.

The movie moves at such a breakneck speed from the get go that you can’t figure out what in the heck is happening, not to mention that the movie is so loud you can’t hear what people are saying when it seems that they’re uttering a crucial detail to the ever-changing plot of the movie.

Nolan has created a puzzle that runs forwards and backwards, literally, and his time inversion heist save-the-world-from-doomsday-semi-love story movie is just…whoa. It’s a lot!

Guess Who Should Star in ‘Rangers of the New Republic’?

There have been rumors that Cara Dune would end up getting her own spin-off series and it seems like she will with Rangers of the New Republic but I just realized another fabulous character that would make a fine addition to the series; Wedge Antilles.

In the Aftermath Trilogy we learn that Wedge plays a large role in taking down the Galactic Empire during the Battle of Jakku. Following the Battle of Jakku we know that he is a flight instructor on Hosnian Prime and that he eventually gets married to Temmin “Snap” Wexley’s mother Kare Kun where they settle on the planet Akiva until the battle between the Resistance and the First Order (hence that ridiculous cameo in The Rise of Skywalker.)

But what if we can fill in a bit of those gaps and make him a key figure in the Rangers of the New Republic series? He’s been a beloved Star Wars character since his induction in 1977’s A New Hope. Why wouldn’t Favreau and Filoni get a chance to expand his storyline in a series that is destined to be pretty cool?

What do you think? Do you see want to see Wedge Antilles in Rangers of the New Republic? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a fantastic day.
