My Opinion of ‘The Lion King’ Teaser

I watched The Lion King for the first time several years ago when it was brought back to the movie theaters in IMAX and I was flabbergasted by how incredible of a movie it was. It made me laugh, it made me cry, and it was a phenomenal story that completely deserved to be considered one of the greatest animated films of all time. When it was announced that there would be a live-action remake of the movie I couldn’t be more excited, especially after seeing what Disney did The Jungle Book.

So, yesterday the teaser for The Lion King came out and I have to say, it was kind of amazing. Here’s the teaser.

While I definitely found the trailer enjoyable because, well, it’s The Lion King it didn’t excite me as much as I would’ve expected. I mean, it looks beautiful and I’m sure it’s going to be amazing but it didn’t immediately make me want to see the film.

What I found to be a bit jarring however was seeing Simba at the end of the teaser. In the animated version, you can look past the fact that the movie is only about animals because of their human-like expressions and mannerisms. To see live-action Simba I’m just hoping it won’t look corny seeing him talking. (Which I’m sure it won’t considering that it’ll look just like The Jungle Book.)

So yeah, the teaser was exciting to see but it didn’t utterly captivate me as much I would’ve imagined. I’m also hoping that it’s not practically a remake of the animated version and stays true to the creative revision of the film like the other live-action movies.

But I will say, I found this teaser to be much more enjoyable than Aladdin‘s teaser, which is a good sign.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a beautiful day.

‘Aladdin’ Dazzles With This First Teaser

A teaser poster for the highly-anticipated live-action Aladdin set to come out next May debuted a couple of days ago and last night, during the Thursday Night Football game, the teaser for the film premiered. Here it is.

Um…chills. Aladdin is hands down my favorite classic Disney film next to The Lion King and so seeing it brought to life on the big screen is utterly magical. I loved the music, I loved the sheer beauty of the world I remember seeing over and over again as a child, and the rumbling voice of the entrance (I forgot what it’s called) sounded AMAZING!

They definitely provided us just a tease of what’s to come but I can’t wait to see this movie. I think it’s going to be perfectly magical, as it should be.

What did you think about this teaser? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below. I thank you for reading and I hope you have a magical day.

The First Teaser Poster for the Live-Action ‘Aladdin’ Movie Is Here

If you love Disney movies then I’m sure you’ve seen Aladdin potentially a few times. I’ve only seen it once but I used to read the novelization of it and listen to the songs all the time and it quickly became one of my favorite Disney films of all time. When they announced they were going to make a live-action of the movie I got SOOO excited. Beauty and the Beast was pretty fantastic, considering the classic version it had to go up against, and I am beyond excited to see this magical story brought to the big screen.

And, if this wasn’t exciting enough, the teaser trailer is set to come out tomorrow! Ahh! This is awesome. I can’t wait to see it!

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a beautiful day.

Here’s a First Look at the Live-Action ‘Mulan’

Mulan is one of my favorite Disney animated films because of its inspiring tale of female heroism and its wonderful songs. Especially the song, “Reflection”. It’s undoubtedly one of my favorite Disney songs ever made. The movie is so good, in fact, that it got nominated for an Oscar (unsurprisingly.)

When Disney started making live-action versions of these iconic Disney animated movies I was seriously hoping that Mulan would end up being one of the live-action remakes. To my great delight, it is, and the first photo featuring the film has arrived. Here it is.

Yifei Liu will be playing the role of Mulan and it will feature an all-Asian cast (which it should.) Donnie Yen will be playing the mentor, Commander Tung. Jet Li is playing the Emperor. And Yoson An will be playing Chen Honghui who is a young recruit who turns out to be (spoiler-alert) Mulan’s love interest.

I like that they changed the idea of Mulan’s love interest being in a position of power over her. With them both being army recruits it sets them each at an equal playing field and I like that.

All in all, I can’t wait to see this movie and I can’t wait to learn a little more about Aladdin over the next year. I hope it’ll end up being a great movie. 🙂

Disney Is Making a Live-Action Fairy Tale Movie Featuring an African Princess

Disney, for the past several years, have made live-action movies featuring some of the greatest fairy tales and stories; Alice in WonderlandThe Jungle BookBeauty and the Beast, the list goes on. And now it’s been reported that a new live-action film is in the works featuring the story of an African princess named Sade. Um…AWESOME!

After Black Panther‘s surprising success it seems that Disney is looking to find more ways to incorporate stories of black heroes and heroines into their various franchises. I honestly couldn’t be more excited to hear this news. A director for the movie hasn’t been found yet but a script is already in the works and the film has a producer so it’s definitely happening.

This is great news to hear and I can’t wait to learn more about it as the film progresses.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a splendid day.
