Ranking the Live-Action Disney Remakes: From Worst to Best

Disney has been recreating their classics and making them live-action. Some have bad while others have been surprisingly great, even to the point of, in my opinion, surpassing their animated predecessors. In light of Cruella‘s recent addition to the lise, I wanted to share my ranking of the live-action Disney remakes. Enjoy!

13. Maleficent: Mistress of Evil

When I heard there was going to be a Maleficent sequel I was intrigued to see it. When I finally did I was more than disappointed. Much of the movie I complained about how awful it was and when it eventually concluded I was just tired of it all.

I will, however, be watching this again soon and maybe after a second viewing I’ll have a better appreciation. Maybe…

12. Dumbo

Dumbo made me cry, yes it did, but it ultimately is the most forgettable of the live-action movies. Its story was bland and I’m not a fan of Colin Farrel, hence my low ranking.

11. Mary Poppins Returns

Yes, Mary Poppins Returns isn’t as bad as these other two movies (mainly because of Emily Blunt who is one of my absolute favorite actresses) but thanks to Lin Manuel-Miranda’s awful English accent and the lackluster musical numbers this movie falls flat for me.

My Review of ‘Maleficent: Mistress of Evil’

I have one very blunt and precise word to describe this film: dumb. Why is it dumb, you may ask? Well, besides the captivating visuals and Oscar-worthy costume design the story was both confusing and boring with little to no willingness to make a really, really good story. I thought Maleficent was bad. I’m definitely of the opinion that its highly-anticipated sequel was worse. Far worse.

But Maleficent still manages to steal the show with her incredible powers, her flawless sense of style, her wit, and yes, that charming smile.

I’m giving this a very solid 77 out of 100 and 3 out of 5 stars. Do yourself a favor and don’t bother to watch this movie.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a splendid day.

‘Maleficent: Mistress of Evil’ Gets An Official Trailer

Maleficent, which came out five years ago, was announced to have a sequel which is set to come out this October. The film’s teaser arrived a couple of months ago and now ahead of The Lion King the newest trailer is here to enjoy. Check it out.

If you don’t remember from the first film Maleficent was a kind fairy who fell in love with a human. This human would end up becoming king, betraying her, and finally, instead of killing her, cut off her wings.

The horrible deed Maleficent made her vengeful and she thought she would never grow to love again, that is until she met Aurora, the princess she cursed to fall asleep on her sixteenth birthday.

She would end up taking care of Aurora like a daughter and loving her as a mother. Fast forward to this film and Aurora is grown up and ready to get married. Maleficent’s view of love has been twisted by her one love’s betrayal but she tries to go along with the ride. And as obvious from the trailer, things don’t go as planned.

Evil it seems she has become but there is always a greater threat and I’m pretty sure Michelle Pfeiffer’s character has some serious darkness hidden behind that benevolent veil.

The most exciting thing about this trailer, however, isn’t anything from the trailer itself but rather the fact that sometime next year we will see Angelina Jolie as a superhero in the upcoming Marvel film, Eternals, and I can’t wait. She’s going to be so cool! Continue reading ‘Maleficent: Mistress of Evil’ Gets An Official Trailer

‘Maleficent: Mistress of Evil’ Debuts Its Teaser Trailer

I watched Maleficent last year and I thought it was a beautiful movie but it was super boring. But it garnered enough love and good reviews to get a sequel which is set to come out this October. The first trailer dropped today and so, I was totally going to share it with you all. Check it out.

This teaser isn’t exactly bad but it isn’t that great either. It features everyone’s favorite witch, Maleficent, we get to see Michelle Pfeiffer as what is clearly a villain, and it’s relieving to see that the CGI is much better than it used to be.

Does this entice me to watch this movie? Not really. But I may go see it this October if I’m bored. And if you don’t remember, here’s the movie’s poster.

‘Maleficent: Mistress of Evil’ Has a Poster

You may remember Maleficent when it first came out in 2014. It was a revised version of the classic Disney animated film, Sleeping Beauty, instead focusing on Maleficent’s story and featuring Princess Aurora as a co-star. Now, five years later, Disney is introducing a sequel to Maleficent which, to my great surprise, made over $700 million dollars worldwide. Disney released the poster yesterday. Here it is.

The poster is simply stunning, in a dark villainous sort of way. The fact that Disney is bringing this movie out in mid-October hints that they may take a scarier approach with this film, choosing to highlight Maleficent’s darker nature.

With this post being released I’m sure we’ll see the teaser any day now. I hope it’s as beautiful as this poster.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a lovely day.
