Counting Down My 20 Favorite Trailers: #3-‘The Lord of the Rings’

The Lord of the Rings is one of the most epic, if not the most epic, trilogies ever brought to the big screen. Based on a novel that would capture the imagination of minds around the world, young and old, these films are lightning in a bottle and have a minute chance of ever being replicated or matched in brilliance. And the teaser to announce the films’ arrival is one of the most magical I’ve ever seen. Take a look.

The first 50 seconds of the teaser is kind of good but it feels old. Like it’s totally under the format of 90s’ teasers. It is the teaser’s last 50 seconds that gives me chills just thinking about it. The music changes and suddenly, the magic that is The Lord of the Rings is revealed.

We see the main cast of characters, we get the dates for each film which arrive in succession after one another, and as the music continues to imbue the trailer with a sense of chill-inducing wonder, the words You will find adventure or adventure will find you appear on the screen as the teaser reaches its end.

This trailer is magical to me because I’ve lived with this movie my entire life. As a toddler I was seeing this film in my eyes before I even realized it. Now, as an adult, I can’t imagine how incredible it was to experience these movies in 2001, 2002, and 2003 for the first time but this trailer gives me an idea of just how magical a time it was.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day.

Counting Down my 20 Favorite Trailers: #6: ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’

Have you ever experienced a trailer that was lightning in a bottle? Well, that was my experience watching the teaser for Guardians of the Galaxy for the first time. I had no idea Marvel Studios was making a movie about these wacky band of misfits and so when the trailer started I was like, “What the world is this?” When the Marvel Studios logo appeared I got even more confused. And then…magic happened.

Here’s the trailer.

Let me take you through the delightful weirdness of seeing this trailer for the first time.

Counting Down My 20 Favorite Trailers: #7: ‘Captain Marvel’

Okay, like The Eternals, I wasn’t really familiar with Captain Marvel and her story. Ever since we got the one post-credit scene in Avengers: Infinity War showing off her symbol like the Batman signal I was elated to eventually see her trailer. So imagine my delight when the teaser finally arrived, and boy was it a great teaser.

I cannot tell you enough how many times I’ve seen this teaser. I watched it over and over again when it came out and even now, when I get the urge I turn on this teaser to feel that feeling of happiness all over again that makes this trailer so awesome.

There’s so much to unpack from this teaser but let’s get to the point. The music is epic!!! It melds with the clips and monologue so well that it just puts chills up my arms every time I see this teaser. And as the trailer continues the music builds and builds until we see her, glowing and in full power mode, looking super cool! with that music just drumming at your senses like, “This👏is👏EPIC!!!!👏”

No, this movie isn’t the best Marvel film but its teaser is perfect. Perfect I tell you!

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day.

Counting Down My 20 Favorite Trailers: #8: ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’

Have you ever seen a trailer in a movie theater that is just…magical? Well, for me, that was Bohemian Rhapsody. I sat in that theater watching…(I’m actually not sure) staring at this fascinating teaser in IMAX that had my eyes wide and my mouth agape.

Queen‘s music is legendary and hearing it in IMAX was INCREDIBLE!!! Here’s the teaser.

Rami Malek won an Oscar for this role and I’m not surprised. It was nominated for Best Picture and would be garnered as one of the best films of 2018 for its searing depiction of Freddie Mercury and his incredible story. Plus, I mean, anything with that music is going to be epic!

We’re counting down folks and I can’t wait to share my seventh pick.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a lovely day.

Counting Down My 20 Favorite Trailers: #10-‘The Rise of Skywalker’

I cannot tell you enough how excited I was to eventually see the teaser for The Rise of Skywalker and it beyond delivered! I sat in front of my television screen watching the Episode IX panel at Star Wars Celebration breathlessly, my heart pounding in my chest and my palms sweating. When it was time for the teaser I had to breathe calmly and prepare myself so I could soak up every second of the trailer. I wasn’t ready!

The first minute and eight seconds were breathtaking, filling me with such exhilaration as I was able to see my favorite heroine (at the time) again. The distinction between good and evil seemed clear as she was adorned in a crisp white version of her scavenger outfit in The Force Awakens.

Approaching her seemed to be none other than Kylo Ren, ominous and faceless in his TIE Fighter as he sought to run our Rey over. But oh no, what did Rey do? She flipped over the frickin’ ship!!!!

My head exploded. I exclaimed in sheer disbelief that I was seeing something so cool. It was an amazing experience. And then…we can’t forget about that chilling cackle of a villain us Star Wars fans never thought we’d see again on the big screen…Palpatine!

I screamed. And then I sat there with my mouth in disbelief. I rushed to watch the teaser again. Chills ran down my spine. My eyes were wide. I was just on another level of excitement. Continue reading Counting Down My 20 Favorite Trailers: #10-‘The Rise of Skywalker’
