The mood in the Tolgan craft was grim. Yes, friends were reunited and a sense of comradery restored but a valuable member of the crew was gone. Really, really gone and he wasn’t coming back.
Keeli Calrissian strived to contain her composure. She knew what it felt like to lose someone she loved. She had lost both of her parents on the Day of Darkness when SHE had arrived and changed so many lives in an instant. For the next few years, she continued to fight but not without feeling the terrible strain of sorrow on her heart of their loss. John had been there to help her through her darkest times. He had promised to never leave her side and he had kept his promise.
And now, he was gone. Continue reading Episode X: The Reckoning: Chapter Forty-Six
Trish was exhausted. Like, literally depleted of strength. Well, not physical strength. She could still easily take down a Gamorrean with her bare hands. But her mentals were tasked. Ever since they had crashed on this planet there had been nothing but trouble. And now she found herself staring at an entity she had only heard about and hoped she would never see; an All-Terrain-Annihilator.
“Why?” she whined. Continue reading Episode X: The Reckoning: Chapter Forty-Three
The sick feeling in Finn’s stomach didn’t fade away after his talk with Phasma. In fact, it had only intensified. Now, as he stood in the belly of Hondo’s swoop, preparing for the jump that onto the fortress, he almost felt like throwing up.
Rose never looked his way. She instead chose to ignore him, reiterating her fury at his unwillingness to get them out of this plan. Lest did she know the true nature of what was about to happen. Continue reading Episode X: The Reckoning: Chapter Thirty-Eight
The plan. It wasn’t a good one but it was all they had. Hondo wanted to take the swoop they had used to land on the planet and drop down onto the fortress’s several turrets where they would then infiltrate the massive fortification through the windows of the building’s upper levels. But of course, the operation would take place under the cover of night.
That meant Rose had time to sit back and prepare for whatever was about to happen next. Phasma, the former Knights of Ren, and Hondo were still glossing over the strategy and she knew she should be doing the same thing but she couldn’t. There was a high chance that they could fail and then what? She would have died millions of stars away from her three children who would need her growing up. And why? This isn’t what she had signed up for!
Dying for the cause to bring the evil ONE down. That was a fate to be proud of. But dying in the urge to steal a fancy jewel for a madman with a dangerous ambition named Hondo? That was not the way she envisioned going to meet her sister again.
Finn must’ve noticed her solemnity because he eventually joined her by the natural rock formation that jutted from the cliffs. Continue reading Episode X: The Reckoning: Chapter Thirty-Five
Hondo Ohnaka was insane. Phasma had learned that fact the hard way. And now, as she stood on the white cliffs of a new world called Lam, overlooking a vast fortress crawling with Tolgan guards in their stark yellow-and-red armor, she knew that every element of this heist was bad news.
Finn stood beside her, his locks blowing in the wind. His expression was grim. The realization of how much trouble they were going to be in was probably dawning on him as well. She almost felt like laughing.
Years ago, she would’ve done anything to have the man standing by her side at this moment locked in chains and assigned to a torture chamber for the rest of his days. That was a long time ago… Now they were doomed to meet a gruesome fate side by side, as unlikely allies. Continue reading Episode X: The Reckoning: Chapter Thirty-Two
