My Review of ‘The Little Things’

I love a good murder mystery! I’m talking Se7en, Prisoners, and The Silence of the Lambs. Those are the best ones I’ve seen and I’ve seen some other good mystery movies along the way.

This week I decided to watch The Little Things, a new murder mystery starring Denzel Washington, Rami Malek, and Jared Leto. I almost skipped watching this movie but when Leto earned a Golden Globe nomination for the film I thought, heck, I might as well check it out.

So I watched it yesterday with my sister and oh my goodness, it was underwhelming.

For the first hour it’s just mindless exposition filled with cop lingo that left me pulling at my face with frustration. Half of what they were talking about I couldn’t understand and the other half, I just didn’t care about.

When Leto finally showed up, he kind of brought a bit of pizzazz to the movie but overall, the ending left me like, “WHAT?!” It just was annoying and nonsensical and just…frustrating.

The only reason why I made it as long as I did was because I was watching the film believing that Denzel Washington’s character was the actual killer.

SPOILERS AHEAD! It isn’t. In fact…we never find out who actually is killing all of the people. That doesn’t mean there isn’t a bit of a shocking ending but because the writer was trying so hard to tell a story that’s different they didn’t think to actually write a movie that was entertaining.

Counting Down My 20 Favorite Trailers: #8: ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’

Have you ever seen a trailer in a movie theater that is just…magical? Well, for me, that was Bohemian Rhapsody. I sat in that theater watching…(I’m actually not sure) staring at this fascinating teaser in IMAX that had my eyes wide and my mouth agape.

Queen‘s music is legendary and hearing it in IMAX was INCREDIBLE!!! Here’s the teaser.

Rami Malek won an Oscar for this role and I’m not surprised. It was nominated for Best Picture and would be garnered as one of the best films of 2018 for its searing depiction of Freddie Mercury and his incredible story. Plus, I mean, anything with that music is going to be epic!

We’re counting down folks and I can’t wait to share my seventh pick.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a lovely day.

Oscar Week Countdown: Who’s Going To Win? (Day 5)

It’s only one! day until the big event–The Oscars–and I’m so excited. In fact, this is the most excited I’ve been for The Oscars in a long while. This year is stacked with so many exciting nominees that I honestly can’t wait to see what happens. Today I will predict two more winners from these two categories; Best Leading Actress and Best Leading Actor. Enjoy!

The Nominees for Best Leading Actress:

Olivia Coleman, Melissa McCarthy, Lady Gaga, Glenn Close, Yalitza Aparicio

Marco Graf, Yalitza Aparicio, and Daniela Demesa in Roma (2018)

Roma is literally Yalitza Aparicio’s film debut and she did such a remarkable job that she has been honored with an Oscar nomination. I think that’s enough reason to give her the award.

The Nominees for Best Leading Actor:

Rami Malek, Bradley Cooper, Willem Dafoe, Christian Bale, Viggo Mortensen

Rami Malek had to portray a legend! Freddie Mercury, for crying out loud. This could’ve gone wrong in so many ways and yet it didn’t. It, in fact, was so amazing I wanted to see it but just didn’t get around to getting to the movies at the time. Yes, the other actors nominated for this category have been amazing but I think Malek’s bar was raised MUCH higher, hence he should win.

So, these are my choices for the win tomorrow night for Best Leading Actress and Best Leading Actor. Tomorrow I make my bold predictions for the last two categories; Best Director and Best Picture. I can’t wait for you to read it.

I thank you for reading and I hope you have a lovely day.
