A Movie Ranking: Tom Hardy

Tom Hardy has grown to be one of my favorite actors of all time. His nuanced performances allow him to stick out as he brings a certain depth to every character I’ve seen him play. Over the years, I have discovered that I have seen more films with him than I first imagined, making him the perfect topic for this week’s A Movie Ranking. Enjoy!

6. Venom

Tom Hardy in Venom (2018)

Venom is the worst movie I’ve seen Tom Hardy play in and easily my least favorite work of his. The accent doesn’t come off naturally nor does his performance as Eddie Brock. The film is also pretty bad. I will say this though, in better hands the movie would’ve been much better.

We’ll see how Venom 2 handles Eddie/Venom’s story in a more concise fashion (even though the prospect of Woody Harrelson as Carnage seems pretty cornballs.) Continue reading A Movie Ranking: Tom Hardy

‘The Revenant’ Is a Dark, Traumatic, Beautiful Masterpiece

Movies. I love movies. I love all genres of movies. But there’s always that particular movie you come across that is unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. Those movies are far and few but once watched will stick in your mind as long as time permits it. The Revenant is one of those movies.

I’ve wanted to watch The Revenant since I saw its first trailer in 2015. I would sit in the movie theater, riveted by what I was seeing on the screen. It took me four years to finally see it but now that I have I am absolutely stunned by the movie’s brilliance.

Let me tell you, the trailers gave no justice to the film whatsoever. This movie will shock you over and over again until you’re numb with the tragedy and trauma of this story.
