Throwback Friday: The MCU’s Phase 4 Needs To Bring These Twelve Characters To Life

With Captain Marvel coming out today Phase 4 of the MCU is drawing closer and closer. So for this week’s Throwback Friday I’m listing twelve characters that would be fantastic in upcoming Marvel movies. Enjoy!

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been around for ten years and it doesn’t look like the franchise is coming to an end anytime soon. With Avengers: Endgame about to bring a conclusion to a 22-movie storyline, a new journey is going to begin and that means new heroes will have to arrive to save the day. But who will those new heroes be? I’m not going to pretend that I’m an expert on Marvel characters (I am not) but I have done some research and discovered some very cool characters that could be central pieces to this evolving story. So, here are the characters I would love to see debut in the upcoming Phase 4 of the MCU.

1. Hawkeye (Kate Bishop)

The older Avengers’ reign is coming to an end (quickly) and that means we need new heroes to take their place. With Spider-Man’s debut in Captain America: Civil War the idea of the Young Avengers coming to fruition could easily become something very special and Kate Bishop/Hawkeye is a perfect candidate for that youthful organization.

It’s also perfect because her storyline is simple. She grew up idolizing Hawkeye (he was her favorite Avenger) and decided when she got old enough to follow his footsteps as a bow-wielding superhero. Sounds great if you ask me.

2. Adam Warlock

Adam Warlock is a major staple of the Guardians of the Galaxy and is one of the greatest Marvel heroes to be created. In one of the post-credits scenes for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 we see antagonist Ayesha watching over a new creation she was concocting to destroy the Guardians of the Galaxy. She called him, “Adam.” Um, if that isn’t Adam Warlock then I don’t know what it could be.

It seemed like we were going to undoubtedly see him within a few years but with the filming of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 getting halted indefinitely due to James Gunns’ firing, it seems a little less certain whether we will see Adam come to fruition or not.

3. Darkhawk

Darkhawk. I’ve just learned about him today and I am an immediate fan.

Christopher Powell a.k.a Darkhawk is a simple NYC teenager who happens to find an amulet in an abandoned park that gives him the power of the Darkhawk. When he wears the amulet he can transfer his conscious into an android named Darkhawk.

He sounds very awesome. And he would be a great fit for the Young Avengers.

4. Squirrel Girl

Squirrel Girl may not seem like one of the most powerful Marvel superheroes but she actually is. Her incredible fighting abilities make her one of the most legendary Marvel heroes and that’s pretty awesome.

She’s also hilarious. Squirrel Girl would not only kick butt but crack plenty of jokes while doing it as well. I’ve heard of Squirrel Girl but it wasn’t until Marvel’s Rising Secret Warriors that I was able to see her and she was undoubtedly my favorite character. With Marvel’s abundance of humor, a character like her would be the perfect fit for the franchise.

5. Blade

I’ve already written a post on the reasons why we need Blade to arrive in Phase 4 of the MCU so I’ll keep this paragraph short. Blade is awesome, he knows Doctor Strange, and did I mention he was awesome? End of discussion.

6. Nova

Nova is another teenage hero who seems very awesome. Even though Xandar was obliterated after Thanos’ raid it doesn’t mean that some of the Nova Corp didn’t survive. Remember, Thanos only kills half of the population of the planets he visits so there’s a huge possibility that Nova is just waiting to become the hero his people need to save the day.

7. Storm

Storm is one of my favorite superheroes and it seems paramount that they bring her to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Besides, she’s such a central character to Black Panther’s storyline. In the MCU she doesn’t exactly have to be King T’Challa’s love interest but she can still be his ally so, please Marvel, bring her to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

8. Stature

Cassie Lang is a prominent part of Ant-Man’s life in both Ant-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp and she has already presented her desire to become a superhero like her dad. In the comics she did, in fact, become a superhero named Stature who joined the Young Avengers. I don’t know what her powers are but I do know that I would love to see Cassie as the superhero that she’s been aspiring to be.

9. Spider-Man (Miles Morales)

Peter Parker/Spider-Man is the character right now that is in full blast in the MCU but Sony owns the rights to Spider-Man which means a new Spider-Man will have to take the reigns. In swings Miles Morales to save the day. Miles Morales is getting his own film this December but Kevin Feige has already expressed his willingness to bring the character to the MCU so, let’s hope it comes to fruition.

10. Black Bolt

Black Bolt is awesome! I just learned about him today and I am astonished by his incredible power. If you’re not aware of who he is then let me fill you in. Black Bolt is the leader of the Inhumans and his power is extraordinary. His voice is destructive. A single whisper can kill somebody. Think what a roar will do? Yeah, that’s an incredible thought. Black Bolt may have been brought to the small screen in the ABC show, Inhumans, but it turned out to be a flop and so that provides leeway in bringing this wonderful character to the MCU.

Ms. Marvel

Ms. Marvel is powerful, hilarious, and brings a youthful energy that’ll be a great addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. At one time I had no idea who Ms. Marvel was but now I know exactly who she is and I love her. I also love her elongating and embiggening abilities. Kevin Feige has already told Marvel fans that he is thinking of bringing Ms. Marvel to the MCU soon and that truly is an exciting thought.

12. IronHeart

Tony Stark’s reign as the Iron Man is swiftly coming to a close and he will need someone to succeed his throne. In steps in Riri Williams to fill that void. The story of Riri Williams is very simple and perfectly fits the current storyline of the MCU.

She’s a fifteen-year-old genius who’s inspired by Tony Stark’s brilliance and decides to make her own suit. Tony Stark takes her on as his mentee and she becomes the hero that could help lead the Young Avengers to victory against their foes.

Honestly, I truly do hope these characters end being brought to the big screen sooner rather than later. They are all so vastly incredible, unique, powerful, and they would all be such great fits for the upcoming Marvel storyline. I also think the idea of the Young Avengers would be a fresh new take on the heroes we’ve seen before in an enduring fashion.

Who would you like to see in the upcoming phase of the MCU? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
